Gointo your install directory (in my case C:\Program Files\Epic Games\AssassinsCreedValhalla) and double click ACValhalla.exe. That allowed the Ubisoft Connect Launcher to update, which is apparently necessary. THEN I was able to get it to launch, either by using the existing desktop shortcut, the Epic Games program Launch
Rightclick on Assassin's Creed Origins. Click Properties. Click Local Files. Click Verify Integrity of files. After doing this it turned out that there were 6 files that weren't working properly on my game. Steam redownloaded those files and now my game works with the UbiConnect overlay turned off. #15.

Locatethe Ubisoft game launcher and right click on it. Select Uninstall . Locate the folder that has the setup file for the game launcher. Right Click on it and select Properties. Go to Compatibility tab and check the box which states “ Run this program in compatibility mode for ”. Select the Windows XP service pack 3 from the drop down list.
